Lifting off with a child on each hip!


Our flight was booked for 18:00 and only got delayed with 30min and changed boarding gates twice! from A9 to A8 and back to A9!

Lorelai and Amandalynn was super excited to go visit grandma.

The girls stood at the terminal window waving at all the plains and asking which one is ours.

Finally we were ready to board.

Lorelai got to sit on my lap as she is till under 2.

She was a bit difficult for the 20min that it took for the plane to start taking off. The stewardess came to ask me that if I would like to switch with some one so that Lorelai can have her own seat after take off.

Next to use was only 2 people seated in a 3 seater. She ask the lady and gentlemen if they wanted to switch and the lady said no. Needless to say Lorelai was like a hyperactive bunny on E the entire flight and the bitch who did not want to swap kept giving me the evil eye! I mean seriously if you are not willing to swap so my child can have her own seat, in other words be quieter and more behaved then do not try to stare at me until my mind explodes!

The flight confirmed what we have always believed – Lorelai is a true performer and the next Hollywood heartbreaker. She sang the national anthem to the entire plane and after she realised that people are smiling and laughing and thinking she is cute she just kept going!

By the time our plane landed on OR Tambo I was dead – dead tired.

Can you believe that we were dropped like in the middle of nowhere and that we had to walk what felt like 10km to get to the point where the bus takes you to the terminal? Did I mention I was wearing fabulous 3 inch heals that perfectly match my outfit?

The luggage took forever and a day to appear! I gave the kids to hannes’s brother and went back to wait for the rest.

Did you know that when you book in fragile luggage that they wait until ever last piece of luggage have been collected and only then will the extremely helpful (read lazy/useless) staff bring the fragile things out for collecting?

After what felt like forever I had all my bags and I was ready for a cigarette or 7!

Hannes’s brother Jaun parked on the other side of the moon (distance to the garage where he decided will be best to park as I clearly am in need of some exercise).

Note – at this stage, I am tired, hungry, needing to smoke, tired, needing to smoke.

HE FORGOT WHERE HE PARKED HIS CAR!

I finally gave up looking and parked on Amandalynn’s bike in the middle of the parking garage and told him to go look for it and let me know where it is. We eventually found it in another parking garage.

All and all besides Lorelai being hyperactive and not shutting up and climbing me like a tree in the plane I think the flight went well.
